We make the parts of a building people live with every day.

Windows and doors frame light, shape comfort and endure years of handling and weather.

Farrar approaches them as architectural joinery rather than off-the-shelf components. Each project begins with the building: its proportions, materials, use and the character that should be retained.

That information guides the timber, profiles, glazing, finishes, hardware and construction method. The result should not simply fit the opening. It should feel right within the property.

From drawing to finish

Design, manufacture and inspection are treated as one connected process.

What matters here.

These are the principles we work to on every project, from the first enquiry through to delivery.

01

Start with the building

Proportion, opening style, glazing patterns and finishes should respond to the architecture rather than forcing every project into a standard template.

02

Make for long service

Material selection, construction, coating and maintenance must be considered together so the joinery can perform over time.

03

Be clear about the next step

We tell you what information we need, what happens after your enquiry and how the project moves towards manufacture.

04

Stand behind the work

Clear care guidance, a timber warranty in writing and a team you can actually get hold of.

Craft still matters. So does precision.

Farrar combines practical joinery knowledge with modern manufacturing methods. The aim is not to replace craftsmanship with machinery, but to use each where it contributes most.

Hands-on skill, supported by precise machinery.

Experienced joiners interpret the drawings, understand how the components meet and recognise the small details that affect the final result.

The people behind the work.

Every window and door passes through the same hands: the people who interpret the drawings, prepare the timber, assemble the joinery, apply the finish, inspect the result and coordinate delivery.

1
Design and estimating

Reviewing requirements, drawings, product choices and the information needed for quotation.

2
Joinery and machining

Turning project information into accurate purpose-made components.

3
Finishing and quality

Preparing, coating, assembling and checking the completed product.

4
Project coordination

Helping customers understand lead times, delivery and the next practical step.

Material choices with a long view.

External joinery experiences changing temperature, moisture, sunlight and repeated use. Material selection therefore has to support stability, durability, finishing and maintainability.

Farrar's focus on Accoya is part of the complete joinery system rather than a stand-alone badge.

Stability A stable timber helps components retain their intended shape and dimensions.
Durability The material is selected with long-term external use in mind.
Finishing Timber preparation and factory-applied coatings work together.

50 Year timber warranty

What the 50-year warranty covers.

We build every window and door from Accoya. Accsys, the company that makes Accoya, warrants the timber against rot and fungal decay for 50 years above ground, or 25 years where it sits within 20cm of the ground.

The warranty covers the wood itself. The paint finish needs looking after like any exterior joinery, and we will tell you what that involves.
